Just what I wanted for a new iPhone. A special “Thank You” to artist ‘Serge Averbukh’ for the addition, at my request, to the design of my Navy rating, the lightening bolts (sparks as they are/were called) in the middle of the CPO insignia. I asked; he came through….When I use my phone, it brings back fond memories of my 20-year Navy career…. Thanks Serge….
Hornito is derived from a Spanish word meaning small oven.This spattering hornito formed over a lava flow near the PuuOo Vent in the East Rift Zone of the most active volcano in the world--Kilauea Volcanoes. Hornitos are unique in that they are Rootless, meaning they are not fed directly from an active vent below them. As hot wide lava flows over the terrain the surface cools and chunks occasionally break off exposing a hole in the top of the crust. Gobs of semi-solifdified lava are pushed up through that hole and build a lumpy tube with steep sides and an open top through which more molten lava gurgles and spatters. This type of rare volcanic landform is scientifically termed a HORNITO. Eventually either the hornito will cool of and solidify if the lava flow decrease or it can collapse and fall back into the flowing lava below.
